Project Blog:Question Seven

Tell us 5 things about your childhood...
1. I grew up with 6 siblings (plus me)..making 7 kids in our family. We're actually 2 families blended into 1. I am #6 and the youngest girl in the line-up.
2. I was lucky to grow up on a farm with 25 acres. My Dad raised cows, we had
a garden, and a swimming pool in the backyard.
3. As kids, we siblings fought (like normal siblings do), but now as adults I
can safely say we all get along and that we're friends.
4. We didn't have TV growing up...just an antenna on the house which brought
in Canadian TV (lots of hockey night in canada). Probably why I watch TV
so much now.
5. The best part of our summer vacations from school was a week of camping at
Birch Bay State Park. We'd take the camper and all of our bikes and spend
our days riding to the C Shop, the Beachwood Store, playing canasta and
cards with Granny and Grandpa, digging for clams and swimming in the bay,
having sugar cereal for breakfast (the ONLY time of year we got cereal like
Froot Loops), S'mores by the campfire, and if we were REALLY lucky...
sleeping in the Chinook with Granny and Grandpa. Oh, the memories we made there :)

Project Blog Question

My love of reading started early on in life and has never quit! Right now I am reading "Nanny Returns" by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus. It's the sequel to "The Nanny Diaries" which was also a movie with Scarlett Johansson. I visit the library near work almost every week. I like to read all sorts of books. I'm almost ashamed to say that: I DO judge a book by it's cover. If the cover art is good, I give the book a chance. I also really enjoy the books by Jen Lancaster...she's super funny! I am so excited that she's publishing a novel this year. My #1 favorite book of all time has to be Gone with the Wind. Such a classic! What are you reading this week?

Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh my!

This summer Kayali and Thomas had a chance to visit us in San Diego. While they were here we took a trip to the San Diego Zoo. Can I just say that I love it? This zoo is quite large and takes the entire day to see exhibits...and even then you don't see them all. I've been twice since moving here and still feel like I haven't seen it all.

We did have to wait awhile in line to see the Pandas, but they were totally worth it! So playful and cute :)

The lions are so big and beautiful. The male lion had the largest mane I've ever seen!

The jaguar was so close to the glass, pacing back and forth. Seemed like he was playing games with all of us visitors.

The elephant has to be one of my favorite animals of all at the Zoo. Which one is yours?

Soccer and Birthdays

Here is what's been happening in our neck of the woods...

Ella had her 6th Birthday at Chuckee E. Cheese after soccer in the morning.

Audrie found a "Silly Bandz" at Ella's game.

Hailey likes to watch her big sisters play soccer...and is becoming quite the little player herself. She tried to steal away a ball during warm-ups from a girl on Ella's team :)

Chloe plays on a premier soccer team. Here they are at a 3-on-3 tourney. Their team split in to two 3 player teams and each ended up in the finals! Chloe's team was the Oompa-Loompas...and WON!!!

Chloe's 9th birthday party was at our clubhouse pool. Here she is having a piece of her Justin Bieber cake.

When it rains, it pours

Well friends, Fall has arrived in San Diego and I'm afraid to say it's alot like Washington. We had a HUGE thunder and lightning storm last night. I'm talking like so loud it WOKE me up at 1am this morning! It's been raining cats and dogs all day and San Diegans are kinda wimpy about it. I've never heard more people complain about rain as today. I just chuckle and say, I'm used to it :) Here's a picture to hopefully brighten your day!
